More than your doula

Hello, I'm Hamida

Before I became a doula, I was a mother. Motherhood showed me how much love, strength, patience and courage it takes.

Those years inspired me to support other women through some of the most important moments of their lives. I trained at Germanna Community College and became a certified doula because I wanted to turn that compassion into real, meaningful support.

Sometimes a mother needs more than information. She needs someone who will listen, sit beside her, respect her choices and truly care about how she is feeling. That is the kind of doula I want to be.

When we work together, I want you to feel comfortable asking questions, sharing worries and making the decisions that are right for you and your family.

You are more than an appointment on my calendar. Your voice, your family and your story matter to me.

      After your baby arrives

Everyone asks about the baby. I want to ask about you, too.

After a baby is born, so much attention naturally goes to the newborn. But mothers need kindness, rest, reassurance and support too.

Postpartum support is about caring for you as you adjust to life with your baby. Whether you need someone to listen, encouragement, newborn-care guidance or help finding resources in our community, my goal is to make this season feel a little less overwhelming.

Caring for the baby should never mean forgetting about the mother.

      Questions

      Questions you might be holding.

What does a doula do that my midwife or nurse does not?

Your care team handles the medical side. I stay with you the whole time, offer comfort and information, and help you and your partner speak up for what you want. I do not provide medical care.

Can I hire a doula if I deliver at a hospital or birth center?

Yes. I work alongside your care team wherever you deliver, including hospitals, birth centers and home births, subject to facility policies.

What if I go into labor while you are at another birth?

Your approved backup doula attends. You meet her before your on-call period begins, and her details are written into your agreement. If I cannot attend and no approved backup does, the birth-attendance portion of your package is refunded.

I have Medicaid. Can it cover a doula?

Virginia Medicaid and FAMIS cover community doula services for eligible members. I am working toward enrolling as a Medicaid doula provider so I can serve families through their plan. Ask me where things stand in your free consultation, and I will be honest with you about your options.

You are a new doula. Why should I choose you?

Bright Beginnings is a new practice, and I am proud of that. I bring certified training, the patience and understanding of a mother, and support in Pashto, Dari, Russian and English. Your consultation is free, so you can meet me, ask anything, and decide with no pressure at all.

      Which languages do you speak?

I support families in Pashto, Dari, Russian and English. Visits, messages and support during labor are available in whichever language you are most comfortable in.

      My promise to every mother

I promise to listen without judgment, respect your beliefs and choices, honor your dignity, and support you with patience and kindness.

You do not have to pretend everything is perfect. You deserve space to be heard, to ask questions, and to receive compassionate support, in whichever language feels like home.

From my heart to your growing family, welcome to Bright Beginnings.
